Cross Country

Cross Country

CrossCountry runs train services across a vast network, centred around Birmingham, stretching from the far South West of England to the North East of Scotland.

Long-distance train services operate from Penzance, Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol via Cheltenham to Birmingham, with trains alternately serving Edinburgh via Derby, Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster, York, Darlington and Newcastle and Manchester via Wolverhampton, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Stockport. Some of the services to Edinburgh continue to Glasgow or Dundee and Aberdeen, making them the longest distance passenger services in the UK. CrossCountry is looking to introduce WiFi to its high-speed trains during 2012.

You can buy train tickets online for all CrossCountry routes with, as well as checking train times.

Facilities onboard CrossCountry trains

First Class benefits

All CrossCountry trains convey First Class as well as Standard Class accommodation. First Class includes larger reclining seats, more table space and on many services, complimentary food and drink. At weekends you can upgrade onboard to First Class from just £10 on many services.

Power sockets

Power sockets for laptops and mobile phones are located next to almost all seats in both First Class and Standard Class accommodation.

Restaurant and catering facilities

All CrossCountry services convey an at-seat trolley light refreshment service (though it may not be operated at the very start or end of a journey). Many additional services also include complimentary food and drink in the price of your First Class ticket.

Luggage space

Every coach has luggage space at the end of the coach, in luggage racks above seats and between some of the seats. In addition, CrossCountry has recently refurbished its Voyager trains (which operate most long-distance services) to include additional luggage space in coach D.
