Merseyrail

Merseyrail operates electric train services in Liverpool and Birkenhead, connecting Chester, Southport, Ormskirk, Kirkby, Liverpool South Parkway (for Liverpool John Lennon Airport), New Brighton, Ellesmere Port and West Kirby with Birkenhead and Liverpool.

Services from Chester and Birkenhead travel under the Mersey before looping round under Liverpool city centre, connecting all three of Liverpool’s main stations – Lime Street, for all main line and long distance services to London, Manchester, Birmingham, Yorkshire, Scotland, North East England and the East Midlands; and Central and Moorfields, for services from Southport to Liverpool Airport Parkway. You can buy cheap train tickets online for all of these Merseyrail services, direct from MyTrainTicket.

With almost 800 trains running every day, Merseyrail offers frequent services on all lines – usually every 15 minutes on each line (every 30 minutes to Chester) – meaning that services through Liverpool city centre run every few minutes. This gives you great flexibility when booking train tickets.
