If you need more flexibility than an Advance train fare can offer you, the Super Off-Peak or Off-Peak rail ticket could be for you. Off-Peak train tickets are perfect if you are not restricted to travelling early in the morning, or do not need to arrive at a particular time.
However, Off-Peak tickets may require you to travel at specific times of the day or days of the week, or on a certain rail route. The travel restrictions will depend on the journey you are making, but you will be advised of any restrictions at the point of booking your train tickets online with MyTrainTicket.
Cheap Off-Peak train tickets can be purchased any time before travelling. Off-Peak Single tickets must be used on the date shown on your ticket. For Off-Peak Return tickets, outward journeys must be made on the date shown on your ticket, but you can make the return journey on any day within one calendar month of the outward journey.
Super Off-Peak tickets are available on some journeys; these will be indicated when you are buying your train tickets. Occasionally, your email confirmation may refer to this as an Off-Peak ticket – however, Super Off-Peak tickets cannot be used on all trains, so please make a note of the train times that Super Off-Peak tickets are eligible for before you travel.
Off-Peak tickets are eligible for refunds. For more information see ‘refunds & amendments’ below.
If you are restricted to a certain train time on your outward journey but know that you can be more flexible on your return, or are unable to specify an exact train for your return journey, you are able to mix and match ticket types and purchase an Off-Peak Single (online only) on Avanti West Coast routes for either your outward or return journey leg. This Off-Peak Single (online only) is half the price of an Off-Peak Return ticket, helping you save money on your journey.
Off-Peak Single (online only) tickets are flexible tickets only valid at specific Off-Peak times of day and your journey must be on Off-Peak trains on the date displayed on your ticket.
Please note this ticket can only be purchased online and is not available at the station. This ticket can only be bought as part of a return journey and in conjunction with either an Advance ticket or an Anytime ticket.
Off-Peak Single (online only) tickets are eligible for refund. For more information see ‘Refunds & Amendments’ below.
Anytime and Off-Peak tickets may be eligible for a refund. Advance tickets are non-refundable.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for self-print and mobile tickets.
An Off-Peak Single (online only) ticket is only valid as part of a return journey, in conjunction with another single ticket (Advance or Anytime), and both single tickets must have been purchased at the same time.
If you want to refund the Advance or Anytime single, you must refund or amend the Off-Peak Single (online only) at the same time. The Advance or Anytime single cannot be refunded or amended alone. The refund will incur a £10 administration fee.
