South Western Railway

South Western Railway

South Western Railway operates train services fanning out from London Waterloo to Salisbury, Exeter, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Southampton, Winchester, Portsmouth, Guildford, Reading (via Ascot) and many points in between.

South Western Railway’ train services are a mixture of long-distance express services and local stopping services; look at off-peak travel times for cheap train fares on the long distance journeys.

The main long-distance routes are from London Waterloo to Weymouth (via Winchester, Southampton, Bournemouth, Poole and Dorchester), London Waterloo to Portsmouth (via Woking, Guildford and Haslemere), and London Waterloo to Exeter (via Woking, Basingstoke, Andover, Salisbury, Yeovil and Honiton).

There are also plenty of local services from Waterloo to London’s south west suburbs and as far as Reading, Windsor, Alton and Dorking. South Western Railway also operates the Island Line (Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin) on the Isle of Wight and services to both Lymington Pier and Portsmouth Harbour from both of which regular ferries to the Isle of Wight can be caught.
